DAY 19

(From left: living room, kitchen, main door)
Overnight, the false ceiling in the living room went up, just like that. When I went over yesterday morning, not even the brackets were up but by this morning, almost the entire ceiling is up, including the circular cove for the fan. At this rate, I think we will finish ahead of schedule. There were, however, two issues that I have to sort out.
One is the location of the rear audio speakers. They are meant to be behind the sofa, one on each side but today i noticed that a cable which looks like the speaker cable is located on the far corner of the living room, near the main door.
The cable may or may not be the speaker cable, but since it raised alarm bells for me, I'd better raise it. The other is the reinforcement for the clothes pole hanger in the kitchen. The ceiling in the kitchen is also up but the contractor was supposed to have some reinforcements above the false ceiling to ensure the hanger can take the weight of the wet clothes, should we choose to hang them up instead of using the dryer.
The cove for the fan looks pretty huge!
The false ceiling in the living room was erected in a day. It was bare when I saw it yesterday morning.
It's not completely done, but a major part of it is.
A general view of the living room, with the cicular cove for the fan and the false ceiling almost all up.
Bags of hard finish screed (for ceiling?) stacked in the living room.
The door for the storeroom - the last of the doors - has also been installed. So has the walls.
The false ceiling at the kitchen is also up (on the right is the main door, the left, the bathroom). I'm not sure if the contractor has put reinforcement above the false ceiling to be able to support the weight of the clothes pole hanger, which is heavy by itself, let alone when it's carrying the load of wet clothes. I alerted the contractor to it and hopefully he already installed the support.
This is what the clothes pole hanger looks like. It was very very difficult to find this. Only HDB suppliers manufacture this model and it was by a stroke of luck that we managed to find it in a general store selling homewares and some hardware opposite our flat. I believe it's the last one and I'm not sure if it can be found elsewhere. We felt very fortunate to have found it. I couldn't believe it when I saw it hanging out from behind some other stuff.
