DAY 17

Here today, gone tomorrow. As expected. that treat was short-lived. All the windows, door frames, the door lintels above the pocket doors, have been installed. I didn't know windows could be replaced overnight. The new vertically rectangular casement windows replace the old squarish sliding ones. Even though the sliding ones have fewer panes, sliding windows halve the size of the openings, and halves the wind passing through it. These new black, fandangled ones are easy to lock and open and are sealed tight once closed. The also don't have the small horizontal sections that most old HDBs have so that there is some ventilation at the top even if all the windows are closed.
The windows in the living room were shut tight when I got there.
But not the room windows.
They used the curtain rod from the original fittings to prop up the door lintel (a structural horizontal block that spans the space or opening between two vertical supports. It is often found over portals, doors, windows and fireplaces.)
Detail of the door lintel. I hope I identified this element correctly.
Door frames in place.
We weren't allowed to enter though. We abided.
The walls of the master bathroom are all done too.
