DAY 29

I'm always surprised how much work the contractor can get done in just a day! In just a few hours, a good area of the living room was tiled up. It was bare when I was there in the morning to drop off a carton of water and some breakfast for the workers but by evening, when we dropped in at around 6.30pm, we were greeted firstly with an 'open' view because our front door and original gate were gone and our entrance consisted only of a new black metal gate, sans door. The gate was totally wrapped in cellophane with a small opening at the lock area. So basically anyone could look into our unit, albeit through the cellophane wrapping. I wasn't thrilled with this but I know that contractors do this - leave the unit open when they are in the process of installing the door - because it was the same with my colleague's place. His was open to full view but at least ours has a cellophane wrapping which really only offers some psychological comfort. I raised this with our contractor through our IDs and the former said he would place a piece of plywood to block it up. I imagine they will finish up the tiling today and then the fittings will follow...
The lock access is a little awkward. The metal plate just above MJ's hand is where the digital lock will be installed.
It looked like a 'white carpet' as the started from the entrance and tiled in this manner, like a 'red carpet'.
Another view of the living room, with study on the right.
We had an issue with the space for the WC. We wanted to install the TOTO washlet at a later stage but needed to be sure that the space could accommodate it. Initial measurements indicated that it could not fit. So the plumber put the WC in place to measure the remaining space and it could just fit. However, the WC area is very tight. The plumber is pictured showing how snug the space is. He is holding the tile to indicate where the shower screen will be. For us, as long as we can fit the washlet and still have enough space to sit on the toilet bowl, it works for us. Wish we had a bigger bathroom but...
